Our History
As most businesses MTM Communications
began out of a need. During the operations of another business we found
our employees simply sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring. We
needed something for them to do during our slack time. So in 1980 we
started our answering service business. After only a few months of
knocking on doors we had our first 20 accounts. All the phone calls at
that time were answered "Hello may I help you?". It wasn't long
before we found ourselves needing the right type of equipment so we could
be more efficient. Only 4 months after beginning we bought our first call
center equipment. Thus began our efforts to always have the right
equipment to do the job. In 1981 we bought our first PC
the computer age had begun for us. By 1984 we had over 100 accounts and
the need for more sophisticated equipment. This is when we made our first
major purchase of computer based call center equipment. Simply by offering
the newest advances of technology we quickly grew to 170 accounts by 1985. In 1987 we moved to the office building
at 436 Ivy Street Junction City, Oregon. It was also at this time that we
closed our other business and devoted ourselves full time to the answering
service. In 1990 we made our second major purchase of a fully integrated
paperless system, this new system offered many automated activities which
have allowed us to keep our cost down. Keeping up with the latest state of
the art features has always been among our biggest goals. In 1991 we were
the first in the area to offer full-featured Voice Mail. In 1992 with 300
accounts of our own we purchased Fastline Communications, an answering
service in Eugene that had 200 accounts. In 1994 we were finding ourselves
very cramped in our 800 square foot office space. So in 1995 we began
construction on our new building at 325 Holly Street in Junction City,
Oregon. Starting in July of 1995 with over 500 accounts, 8 new operator
stations and 2000 square feet of space we moved into our new building. In
1997 we extended our reach of service into Corvallis and Albany and
quickly added 100 new accounts from that area. In 1998 we purchased
another answering service from the Springfield area, Metro Communications. With the coming and going of the year
2000 we find ourselves as one of the largest answering services
in Oregon. And our goal of keeping up with technology is still right out
there in front of us. As the Internet rages on MTM Communications is
determined to stay on top of the issues to assist our customers with their
communications needs. In 2006 we moved again in a newly
renovated building at 350 Holly Street. We now have 10 in house
workstations, with the ability to add as many remote workstations as
needed. We have added many redundant systems to our business such as
automatic generator and backup servers giving us the ability to stay up
when others can’t. Our client base is now national with some
international accounts. We continue to keep up in the latest technology so
that we can provide our customers with the best services that are
available.
